09 Nights & 10 Days Sustainable Tour Itinerary

 

Day 1: Arrival in Cochin (Kochi)

Arrive at Cochin International Airport and transfer to a sustainable, eco-friendly hotel.

Visit an eco-friendly market, where you can explore and purchase organic and locally-sourced products.

Attend a sustainable cooking class to learn about traditional Kerala cuisine using locally grown ingredients.

Stay overnight at an eco-conscious hotel in Cochin.

Day 2: Cochin Sustainable Exploration

Explore Fort Kochi’s historical district, known for its colonial architecture and cultural diversity.

Visit a local NGO involved in community-based sustainability projects.

Enjoy a boat ride to witness sustainable fishing practices and learn about the local fishing community.

Attend a cultural performance that promotes traditional arts and crafts.

Stay overnight at your sustainable hotel in Cochin.

Day 3: Munnar – Sustainable Tea Plantations and Nature

Drive to Munnar, a hill station with lush tea plantations.

Day 4: Mathikettan shola

Today you will be trekking through the Mathikettan Shola National Park. This is a high altitude rain forest saved from ‘development’ and preserved through a campaign by environmental activists here in Kerala. Your destination is Santhanpara, set amidst luxuriant vegetation and cardamom growing hamlets. En-route you will be passing grasslands, pepper & coffee are grown within the canopy of the forests. Elephants are common here. We will transfer to camp by evening.

Approximately 12 kms (6 to 7 hrs)

Overnight at Beelram or Santhanpara / Doom Tents

 

Day 5: Pappathy shola / Ellamudi

we will walk through (Butterfly Forest – so named for the mass migration of butterflies in October & November). The hills come alive to the morning sun. Today you also have a chance to visit the tribal village of the muduvans – a tribe who have for centuries colonized the upper reaches of the Western Ghats. Their peculiar habits of carrying their children on their backs have earned them their name as muduvans or the ‘back people’.

Approximately 14 kms (6 to 7 hrs)

Overnight at Anaerangal Camp / Cottages

Day 6: Lake Trek via Phantom head

If you are adventurous enough, a climb to the Phantom’s Head peak will be an ever remembered walk a top the tallest feature nearby and famed Anaerangal Lake is never forgettable.

Approximately 10 kms (5 to 6 hrs)

Overnight at Lake view Camp / Doom Tents

Day 7: Thekkady – Spice Plantations and Wildlife

Drive to Thekkady, a region famous for spice plantations and wildlife.

Tour a sustainable spice plantation and learn about organic farming and processing.

Join a local conservation organization for a nature walk focused on biodiversity.

Participate in a tree planting initiative.

Overnight at a sustainable eco-resort in Thekkady.

 

Day 8: Backwaters Houseboat Experience

Travel to Alleppey and board a traditional houseboat designed for low-impact tourism.

Cruise through the backwaters and learn about responsible houseboat practices.

Observe and engage with the local communities along the backwaters.

Enjoy a meal prepared with locally sourced and sustainable ingredients.

Spend the night on the eco-friendly houseboat.

 

Day 9: Vembanad Lake and Bird Watching

Disembark from the houseboat and head to a sustainable resort on the shores of Vembanad Lake.

Learn about local wetland conservation and sustainable tourism initiatives.

Relax at the eco-resort and enjoy the tranquil surroundings.

Day 10: Kovalam Beach and Departure

Drive to Kovalam, a coastal town known for its beautiful beaches.

Participate in a beach cleanup initiative to promote coastal sustainability.

Enjoy a traditional Ayurvedic massage, a practice rooted in sustainability.

In the evening, transfer to Trivandrum International Airport for your departure.
